Collection Zero
2020, Sardinia
Rechargeable lamp, 3D printed and hand-woven
For Atelier Luma
Collezione zero is a research and development project by Atelier Luma in collaboration with Vero Milis, a Sardinian village where the tradition of weaving is still a legacy in the older generations. The project aims to revisit some typical objects and recontextualise them in new uses and more contemporary forms.
In this case, the starting point is the technique of bottle weaving. This technique was almost exclusively a female practice and was used to cover oil bottles. Later it became a purely decorative practice and the bottles were given as gifts for special occasions.
Atelier Luma’s operation was to take the same tradition but apply it to a new object, which this time had a practical function and was connected to a modern use of lighting - cableless table lamps.
